This whole chapter is one big Sweeney Todd reference if you’re familiar with the stage show at all- though I can heartily promise that there will be no throat slitting, cannibalism or knife play beyond the Butler being trusted to shave the young master in this comic. Personally I couldn’t stand the idea of someone else that close to me with a sharp blade- when I did an amateur production of Sweeney last year half of my rehearsal time was learning to not flinch from the (very blunt) blade and act like I got wet shaved all the time.
This story is more a back story of the characters than the straight (ha!) up porn of the last chapter. Warnings for guilt, power dynamics and sadomasochism!

“Being trusted”? More like the butler is willing to do work that’s beneath his station, for the sake of his lover. (Shaving is the job of a manservant, who is outranked by the butler, which was more of a management position, aside from some duties that required a lot of trust in the man’s honesty, like decanting the wine for dinner and cleaning and locking away the silverware.) If the young master grew up rich, he probably never learned how to shave himself. If he’s the head of the house and doesn’t have a manservant and instead the butler must do the manservant’s duties, then the master really is just middle class and would normally dress and shave himself. Though why he would then need a butler is a bit of a mystery, since he wouldn’t have so much staff as to need someone to manage them for him…
