The Magician’s Choice ~ Cover
A perfect start to trans awareness week! Warnings for melancholy, some nakedness (but it’s not really erotic nakedness???) and tonnes of magic puns. This is a comic about what it’s like to be trans in a time before trans even existed as a word and how the lines blur between the stage and the self.
This cover page is based on the lovely poster images that magician’s in the 1920s used to advertise themselves. It’s digitally painted, took about 3.5 hours which is crazy considering all the filters I chucked at it once it was done T_T
A Magician’s Choice is a phrase use to refer to when a trick offers a choice, but in reality every moment is controlled by the magician.
it’s really stunning to see bright red on the cover of a black and white series! also super hyped for a canon trans woman in the lesbian version especially because i’ve had my own secret trans headcanons about the gay version~… ^w^
Are you referring to my ‘no genitals, give them whatever you want’ policy for the gay buttlers/lady gays series? If so feel free to headcanon away! The magician is a trans masculine story so I didn’t want to let you down if you were expecting something different.
