Reverend Tumbles the Pansexual Satyress

It was a bright and muggy day in Letter-Soup Land, and Fred Aura, our daring explorer, was wandering the edge of the Flamboyant Forest for more Minority Monsters he hadn’t yet met.

Suddenly he stumbled upon a sign.

The bonding of Gary the Griffin & Hank the Heteroflexible Hippogriff

“Oh hey- a wedding!” Frank cried with delight.

He’d arrived at the best part too, the Reverend (a Satyr woman with dark fur, wearing a gown embellished with silver pan embroidery and a large mitre covered with grape bunches) was just about to read the last words.

“I now pronounce you Hippogriff and Griffin.” She said in a authoritative bleat. “You may now screech into the sky.”

The delighted grooms threw their heads into the air and shrieked out an ear slipping ‘SKREEEEE’, matching bowties and razor sharp beaks glinting in the afternoon sun. Then with an effortless woosh of powerful eagle wings they took off to the distant mountains, a lion and horse bottom bobbing together as a beautiful symbol of racial harmony.
“Fly free little love birds!” The Reverend cried, rolling her scroll up as she waved.

Fred watched in awe as the newly named Mr and Mr Griff became nothing but silhouettes, but not before beginning their honeymoon early by humping mid-flight, their eager caws of delight filling the Flamboyant Forest. Speechless he began to clap, as nothing else summed up the majesty of the moment.

He turned to see the Reverend standing next to him, wiping away a tear of joy at a job well done.

“So beautiful.” She whispered.

The “pansexual” part doesn’t exactly shine through in this one. Tumbles doesn’t seem to be the subject.

Pansexual?! She’s not even having sex with a pan!

Gosh, it’s almost like people aren’t solely defined by their sexuality? Sort if like they have lives and interests outside of who they like to take to bed. Wow, the artist must really have missed the day in “how to be not straight” school when they talked about how you definitely have to act when you subscribe to a label.

@cravingsunshine I see what you’re getting at, but I think you put it in a more acidic way than you could’ve to get your point across. I don’t see the need to be rude about explaining how Tab might’ve wanted to experiment with a comic that wasn’t about solely defining the subject in question by their sexuality.

However, it’s an honest and open opinion/observation as well, seeing how the past comics actually HAVE been about focusing on their sexuality/gender identity in a cute and fun way that could actually help people understand what each identity means. I doubt Roxolan actually meant to offend and say that everyone HAS to act a certain way when they subscribe to a label, but that the pattern for these particular comics that show/describe what that label might generally mean for people seemed to have been missed — hence the comment about how Tumbles seemed to not really expressed his ~*~pansexuality~*~ that much here. Not that it’s a CRIME. We’re not scolding Tab about it, we’re just commenting over it. :/

With Faye. Regardless, it’s cute, and we get to see two winged creature marry each other off(and awkwardly hump in the sky as bystanders watch) and get a cute satyress to top it off, but while the other comics highlighted the identity or sexual orientation of the characters, this one didn’t exactly do that. Seems more like an Open-Minded Satyress Reverend.

Faye expressed exactly what I was thinking…

Tab, why do you change in this particular story your way of presenting “”sexuality related identities”” ?

I feel so bad for just now noticing the pun of a “Pan”sexual satyr. I need to brush up on my mythos!

I love how this one *isn’t* all about Reverend Tumbles’ sexual behavior – because we’re who we are even outside of the context of the associated actions.

For instance, I’m still a teacher when it’s the weekend and I’m not in the classroom. I’m still queer whether I’m shagging a dude or a lady or a non-binary person or a whole bunch of people or being all by myself not shagging anyone.

I really like the write up at the bottom of the image! I’d love seeing more of those. Yay words!

So fun! I love “You may now screech into the sky”. This one did seem to be a bit less about our dear Pansexual Reverend and more about Mr. and Mr. Griff, though.

I find it really funny that the satyress is PANsexual and in greek myths satyrs were the servants of the nature god Pan

Okay, here’s something that it seems ya’ll don’t really understand; pansexuality isn’t just the attraction to any gender, it can also be the belief that attraction between people of all genders and sexualities is valid. That said, this comic is a lot more centered on pansexuality than you think. Because Reverend Tumbles is pansexual, she believes that love is love, and would therefore think that if Hank and Gary love each other, there is no reason for them to not get married.

Haha this is also called “being a decent person” I didn’t realize that you had to be pansexual to think that love is love.
