Baroness Camp Von Glamour the Lesbian Harpy

It was a scorching day in the Desert of Sexual Desire and Fred Aura, our death-defying explorer, had been trudging through the lustful sands for many hours. Desperate for water (and other things) he made his way towards the outline of a tree in the distance.

As he got closer to the titillating tree he realised that it was not a sign of bountiful water and women, but a dead tree containing nothing but a very large vulture, who was taking a lot of interest in his flagging footsteps.

As he got even closer he realised that the vulture was not actually a vulture, but some kind of harpy birdwoman with extremely large talons. Convinced that this was his last adventure in Alphabet Soup Land, and he was about to become lunch for the lusciously feathered lady, he lay down in the sand and waited for the the clawed strike that would shuffle him off his mortal coil.

Several awkward seconds passed in sizzling silence.

Fred craned his head up, squinting against the sun reflecting off the seductive sand, and peered at the impassive expression of the woman steadily watching him, upturned falcon nose decorating her face.

‘Hey, Harpy Lady- aren’t you going to consume my delicious man-flesh?’

‘NO.’ The birdwoman tweeted through her razor sharp teeth. ‘Just because I’m femme, doesn’t mean I do MEN,’ she scoffed with a low whistle. ‘Now cheerio, back to your toil!’ she chirped, waving a muscled feathery arm.

Fred gathered his dying dignity up and trudged onwards into the sensuous scenery, wondering if he could avert gender stereotypes long enough to ask for directions.

The End.

Tad, I request that Vlad be stricken from the list of ideas for minority monsters. I appreciate that you thought of veganism and are trying to raise awareness, but I fully expect that awareness raised here would be detrimental. This series, which I’ve been enjoying so far, focuses on identities and lifestyles that are often accused by prejudiced detractors as being somehow a moral issue despite being victimless (assuming consent is sought and given, of course). Veganism, though, faces a reverse problem: it actually is a moral issue, but many people find that to be too inconvenient to acknowledge, and so it’s often dismissed as a lifestyle choice. As such, including it in this series strikes me as counterproductive. In the event that you do end up drawing Vlad, I ask that you address this issue in the dialog.

    Sincerely,
    A vegan

Just noticed that I typo’d your name. Whoops. And that should have been ‘… detractors of being…’

A fair point to be wary about, but the comic idea I have is pretty sound and won’t portray anything in a bad light. Cheers for checking in though!

I like the idea of including “vanilla” in the lineup. I also get a chortle from the idea of a vegan vampire. Reminds me of a notorious vampire in my RP group named Jorge: the Hemophobic Vampire. It’s kind of a running joke with my pals.

I remember reading a fantastic series as a kid about a vegetarian vampire who was ostracised from his tribe for being a wimp. I think one thing I want to get across in Minority Monsters is that some minorities are variable and require context- vanilla may be mainstream in humans, but in vampires it’s a rarity (at least in my fictional vampire world!).

I would actually like to see Vlad the vegan vanilla vampire – I hope he is seductive and sexy, as vampires tend to be, thus disproving the stereotypes that vanilla sex is boring and that nonviolent men are unsexy. (Assuming that his veganism stems from his not wanting to hurt people)

Frank the submissive Yeti is very interesting, too. I just can’t decide.

Does the lesbian harpy eat women, or does she have sex with them? The comic is a bit unclear on that, and I feel that it would be more on the side of positive representation if she liked women in a nonfood way ….

PS: The last sentence of the text is pure genius.

I like to think she only eats ladies that want to be eaten, she’s a stand up gal like that. Maybe a second comic to address that aspect?

The voting is really close this time, y’all better decide soon so I have time to draw it!

I figured it was about a misunderstanding – like she’s not actually gonna go all guro on girls she likes, but she assumed he was making puns instead of asking if he’d literally be eaten.

And idk I can get “vegan vanilla vampire isn’t the same as a minority group” but I figure they’re done with overlap? Like how Queen Ravishment is bi.

I don’t know, I was really looking forward to this one and it seems… a little short? Not much to do with lesbians? I guess I was hoping for more of a discussion about lesbians are Not doing this for male attention (despite what sorority girls would have you think) or something like that? Maybe there could be a second part like we got an extra Pan one?
Also didn’t hank the hetroflexible Hippogrif technically get an appearance in the first Pan comic? Not that I would mind seeing him again but now I really want to see Frank the submissive Yeti.

I LOVE the idea of Vlad the Vegan Vanilla Vampire! I can’t wait for it :D

I don’t like this one’s message. Sexual/Gender Orientation has nothing to do with eating something (or someone). You don’t need to find a sandwich sexy to eat it! I guess it is some sort of pun but overall kind of miffs me.

I’ve been liking these in general, but I think this taking place in “Alphabet Soup Land” is my favorite detail so far. I think the queer community being inclusive is a very good thing, but I also like poking fun at how the abbreviation keeps expanding. Last I checked it was up to LGBTQQIA. (I gave up a while ago and just started saying “queer” unless I’m trying to be more specific about what I’m including.)

I also appreciate the pansexual one having a bit of clarification, since these do come across as being kind of silly PSAs.
